At the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival I took two full day classes. The first one was making Santa. The second day was a sheep. Believe it or not, the sheep is harder. I left class with a completed Santa. I left class with 4 hours left of punching those curls all over the sheep. As you can see from the photo below,
I needed some guidance on what a sheep actually looks like. I took lots of photos of the sheep, in hopes of knowing what they look like from now on.
Meet Rebecca Booth from Punkin's Patch, a wonderful blog about raising sheep.
Isn't she just the cutest sheep? I love her color.
And they sell Rebecca's curls. I bought some of Rebecca's curls, hoping I can needle felt a sheep that will remotely look like her.

I don't know much about sheep (as evidence look at the first sheep I needle felted -HAH!), so I don't know what type she is, but if you visit the Punkin's Patch blog I am sure Sara tells you. All you have to do is click on Rebecca Booth to see the post(s) about Rebecca.

Off to my knitting group meeting.
So nice to have found a group within a few miles of home.

That Santa is adorable Leedra.
Rebecca is a beautiful sheep. I look forward to seeing what you do with her curls.
How cute that Santa is but I do love the little lamb - you are always up for something new and exciting - no grass grows under Leedra's feet ;--)
Oh my gosh, that sheep is adorable!! The real one is cute too (wink wink).
How interesting...There's nothing wrong with your little sheep; he just looks a little lonely.
Rebecca certainly has beautiful, curly wool. I'll be anxious to see what you make from it.
Your Santa is wonderful!!! And your sheep too :-D. The picture of RB with her mouth full is perfect. I wish we'd left her top knot on this spring while we were shearing. She should have bangs like Woolliam's to really look "cool" ;-).
I'm so glad you came down. Wish we'd had more time to visit. Next time!
Have enjoyed catching up some on your blog. Your felting is really, really nice!
You had four legs and a face ... goodness - what do you want? Perfection? Of course! Your work is always amazing.
Hi Leedra, Glad you enjoyed the festival --and learned so much about SHEEP. Miss Rebecca is a beauty but I'm like you ---I know NOTHING about sheep.... Can't wait to see what you do with all of that curly hair!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
Your Santa is amazing, The legs on the sheep are alittle heavy. Other than that, he's cute!
I'm learning about the different wools/furs/ and hairs. Complicated.
Very cool! I like all the sheep!
These Santa's are adorable...nice use for the lambs wool. You are always finding the most unique crafts, Leedra.
Have a wonderful day :)
