Sheep at Appalachian Museum - Sept 2011

It was a beautiful September day, as I passed by the
Appalachian Museum I decided to stop and photograph the sheep.

I wish I knew sheep breeds but I don't.
If anybody does I would like to know.
I went to their website but did not find
anything stating what breeds they have there.

Hi Leedra,
I have only heard these called, "Big Horn Sheep". Google that and see if they are the same. Looks like they have some nice wool.

Dorothy - These are Merino type sheep, raised for their great merino wool. I researched those and 2 or 3 looked like this.

The Big Horn Sheep are wild in Arizona, but their hair is very short (no fur). I have photos of them that we took when we went to the Grand Canyon and Vegas. Thought I had posted them on Photos for Fun, but looked and I didn't.

Hi Leedra, is this blog going to replace the other one???? Great pictures of the sheep. I don't know much about them either.
Hugs,
Betsy

The horns on that first sheep are really something.

Awww I love sheepies!
Where is this Museum? What town is it in?

I should have said. The museum is located in Norris, Tennessee. Straight up I-75, north of Knoxville.

Hmmm next time I go down to TN, I will have to see if my mom wants to go! It sounds great.
